METABEAM® BRINGS SOCIAL MEDIA TO THE LIVING ROOM

Company Previews New Metamenu™ Social Media Modules that Promise to Deliver Consumers Rich, Interactive Home Media Experiences

Los Angeles, CA — June 18, 2007 — Social media enthusiasts will soon have the tools to bring their passion for interactivity into the living room thanks to new social media modules currently in development by Metabeam (www.metabeam.com). The company is providing a preview of the first two modules at the Home Entertainment Summit: DVD & Beyond, the home entertainment industry’s largest event, today and tomorrow, June 19th, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

Designed for Metabeam’s Metamenu system, the new modules, called Chatterflix™ and Fannotate™, will enable DVD producers to create social media applications (similar to MySpace and YouTube) as bonus features within their movies, whether HD-DVD, Blu-ray Disc or Standard Definition DVD-ROM. Chatterflix allows viewers to watch a movie and in an instant message-like environment have a conversation with other viewers watching the same movie – anyplace in the world. Similarly, Fannotate offers a secure environment for viewers to input comments, tags, as well as decorate their media collections for other fans to see – both promoting a community of enthusiasts around a film.

“We’ve enriched our consumer-friendly Metamenu offering so media providers can easily deliver the interactive applications that consumers demand, and in the process connect directly with an empowered and engaged audience,” said Chris Brown, CEO of Metabeam. “We see Chatterflix and Fannotate as extensions of the viewer revolution that’s taking place online. These new tools are an invitation to the home entertainment industry to embrace this audience that desires unprecedented levels of personalization, usability and individuality.”

Filmmaker and technology advocate, Brian Metcalf will integrate the Metamenu modules in the production of his new independent film The Dreamless and music video Money Shot by Helmet. “Fannotate lets film fans blend the imagery that I created with their own, then score it with great music to create their own highly personalized visions,” said Metcalf. “Chatterflix is unique because it gives me a way to securely hold live screenings with Q&A commentary, then use that chat as bonus material for the DVD. I’m certain the audience will be well served by my collaboration with Metabeam.”

Metabeam CEO, Chris Brown is a panelist at the Home Entertainment Summit: DVD & Beyond in a session titled “Next-Generation: Reaching for the Sky,” which will examine the possibilities for high-definition discs, from managed copy initiatives to revolutionary special features and Internet connectivity. The panel will take place on Tuesday, June 19th at 11:40 a.m. in the Olympic Ball Room.

The company will also demonstrate the new Metamenu modules on Thursday, June 21 at 2:45 p.m. at the THX Best Practices Laboratory at Raleigh Studios Hollywood. For more information, or to arrange interviews at or outside of the show, contact Jennifer Ritchie at 206-932-2454.
